Sailor’s Pledge

Sailor’s Salute — I pledge allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ, whose name I love and whose praise I sing. As a faithful sailor in Patch the Pirate Club, I will do my best to serve my Savior and obey His Word.

What is Patch the Pirate Club?

Patch the Pirate Club is an exciting and instructive club for children in grades one through four. This program is designed to instill Biblical truth into our church’s children to equip them to live successful, Christ-centered lives.

The Sailor’s log provides the tools children need for daily spiritual growth, and weekly musical training. Sailors earn awards pins, medals and other incentives for faithfulness and good behavior.

Purpose of Patch the Pirate Club

1.      Build Godly character into the lives of children

2.      Present a positive witness for the Lord Jesus Christ

3.      Worship the Lord and train children in God-honoring music

4.      Provide an exciting club meeting that every child will enjoy

Letter to Parents from our Club Captain

Dear Parents,

Ahoy! We are excited to begin this year of Patch the Pirate Club with your child! Thank you for the privilege of allowing us to work with your child to learn and love both music and the Bible.

Since this is a new program for us, I’m sure you have some questions, especially as you peruse your child’s Sailor Log.

1. Uniform. We will be using the sailor hats and sashes, but these will be left at club. The rest of the uniform as described in the Sailor Log is not necessary.

2. Memory verses. We will be learning one verse per month. There is also a longer passage included in the Sailor Log that, if you and your child would like, could be used for “extra credit.”

3. Performances. The children will be performing a short program in the evening service approximately once per month.

4. Daily devotions. The Sailor Log includes short daily devotions for your child. Please help your child establish this habit of consistent daily time in God’s Word. Choosing a consistent time each day, such as after breakfast, after school, or before bedtime, will help your child develop a consistent routine. Your child will not be significantly benefited by completing the week’s worth of devotions on Sunday afternoon before club. Most of the club’s awards reward faithfulness in this area.

5. Learn at Home CD. Please use the learn-at-home CD provided for listening and practice throughout the week. Perhaps car time would be a good time. The CD contains songs for the whole program year, but focus on the first several tracks and the song of the month that we will be singing in our performance. This month’s song is “The Kingdom of God.”

6. What To Bring. Your child should bring their Bible and Sailor Log to club each week.

7. Program Fee. We are charging a program fee of $20 per child for the entire year. This will simply cover the cost of the Sailor Log books for your child. Please make checks payable to Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Please let us know if you have any unanswered questions about Patch the Pirate Club. Welcome to the Club!

Sincerely,

Abby Felber
